Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
